Press Release

WINEWISE
Volume 20, number 5. December 2004

Kyneton Ridge is operated by Pauline Russell and John Boucher. The location is idyllic, and top quality bed and breakfast accommodation is part of the estate. John makes the wine, and considering he literally started from scratch a few years ago, he has achieved miracles.

2001 Pinot Noir

A well structured wine, but it’s not too firm, and the tannins are softening very nicely. The nose is becoming complex, and the palate offers very opulent fruit. This is a substantial yet delicious pinot noir that will probably be at its best in a couple of years. Highly recommended.

2002 Pinot Noir

The tannins of the 2001 are not present here, They were moderated in the winemaking process and the result is a beautifully fine, silky pinot. The dark cherry and red fruits aromas and flavours are enhanced by a background complexity that will continue to grow. Outstanding.

2003 Pinot Noir

Oozing class, and packed with varietal character, this beautifully structured pinot noir picked up a gold medal at the Macedon Ranges wine exhibition. We have no means seen the best of it yet. Outstanding
