Awards National Cool Climate Wine Show 2010 Silver Medal.
Tasting Notes Lush with excellent concentration of colour and flavours; a complex array of the cherry spectrum and raspberry notes interwoven with subtle French oak. This young wine has a lovely long silky finish and will develop well with careful cellaring. It is versatile enough to be paired with chicken, turkey, duck or lamb and also mature cheeses.
Cellar for 4 years
Wine Making All grapes are hand picked and de-stemmed into open fermentation tanks. The ferment is then cold soaked for several days before yeast is added. Fermentation-employing hand plunging of the skins to extract colour, the wine is then lightly pressed before being transferred into French barrels. Winemaker - John Boucher.
Terroir Pauline Russell and John Boucher believe that great wine is made in the vineyard. The terroir of their site is unique from other sites in Macedon Ranges, allowing them to produce quality grapes for premium wine. This is formed by an infinite number of factors, from the granite soil to the aspect of the vines (each vine is expertly hand pruned followed by shoot thinning at the end of Spring.) Using the same format each year allows the vines never to be over cropped. It is from this they produce their award winning premium Pinot Noir.
